Up-Cycle Project

Like most crafters, I have not thrown away very much.  We never know when that (fill in the blank) will come in handy.  Now, I am not saying that I am a hoarder – I’m not.  I only keep the useful stuff and (up to now) I have the room to store it.  But not for much longer.

Last week, I put out a bunch of Fun Foam, and the “pickers” took it all, but not before I found a really good use for it!

I pulled out my Spiral Flower Originals Die (129379) and die cut some flowers and then I grabbed my Autumn Accents Bigz Die (127812) and cut some leaves.  Then, with a bit of hot glue, I made these:

Fun Foam Flowers

They were SO easy!!  Even easier than the ones I made last week with cardstock:

Floral Die Treat

But I am resolved: I am NOT going to buy more Fun Foam – at least not yet!!

If you want to make some of these Fun Foam flowers, you will need some basic supplies:

  • Big Shot die-cutting machine (113439)
  • Spiral Flower Originals Die (129379)
  • Autumn Accents Bigz Die (127812)
  • Fun Foam (from YOUR stash)
  • Hot Glue Gun

You can get these supplies and much more from my Stampin’ Up! store! ! Let me know if you have any questions!

Purging the Crafting Area

Let me introduce you to my crafting Studio.  This is a separate building from my home and it is about 800 square feet.  My ongoing task is to compress down my studio to about 100 square feet.  Yikes!

This is the existing studio.  You are only seeing the classroom part and maybe later I will show more but you get the idea that I have alot of room, right?

Studio Classroom

For the last 2 Saturdays, I have been sorting through the decades worth of crafting supplies (I have been doing this a long time!).  I have sorted everything into 3 piles: keep, sell, give-away.  There are a couple of other, smaller groups: trash bin and recycle bin, but not much ends up there – it’s all good, right?  The “sell” pile goes onto shelves for sale to my friends and customers, the “keep” pile goes into a separate area (some of it will need to be sorted again), and then “give-away” pile goes on the kitchenette table for friends to go through.  They have 1 week to come pick through, and then, after a week, it will go immediately to charity or the trash bin, and then I can start over.

Here is the “give-away” pile from this week.  Yes, there really is a table and 4 chairs under that pile!  Same pile from 2 different directions.

Free Stuff

Free Stuff

In the storage room, there are some shelves that were solidly covered with boxes before I started and now look like this:

Empty Shelves

And that one lonely box actually contains brown packing paper that will I will need when I pack up the stuff I am keeping.  Wow!!

Stay tuned for more developments!!  And if you know someone who is looking for a really nice house in San Antonio with an amazing studio, email me!

Hello World from your RV Crafter

When someone starts a new blog, there is a default first post with the title, “Hello world”  I think the idea is to just use it as a template for the first real post.  But, you know, I like it!  Hello World!  This is Gail and I am your RV Crafter!

I am not in an RV right now, but the house is on the market and I am shopping for an RV!  I hope that by summer, someone else will be living in my house (it would be their house by then!) and I will be hitting the road!

I will share all the happenings with you and bring you some crafting ideas as well!  So whether you live in an RV or not, I hope that we can have some fun together!  Please leave me lots of comments so I will know that that you are there!

PS – Make sure you are following me on Facebook!
