Road Trip, Part 4

Next up, after a month of renovations… Southern Maine, to visit my nephew, Todd, and his family. And, oh, yeah, a family reunion! But first: Let’s pick some blueberries! OMG, they were thick! 3 of us picked a whole flat (modeled by my lovely niece, Jennifer) in way under an hour! We spent 2 weeks enjoying the pool and some good food – I got to make my Southwestern Cobb… Read More »

Road Trip Delayed

I had hoped to start a 4-month road trip on May 4th, but Mother Nature had other ideas. On Wednesday, April 28th, a record breaking storm tore through the D’Hanis /Hondo area of Texas. 6″ hail, 100 mph winds, and even a tornado or two. That evening, I was seeing severe thunderstorm watches, then severe thunderstorm warnings with tennis ball-sized hail. About the time that I was planning to head… Read More »

Snow in Texas!

Back in 2015, I moved to Virginia for a season to work at a KOA park. In March, we had quite a snowfall, which was beautiful. The freeze lasted about 5 days, during which I had no fresh water. Luckily, I had a fresh water tank and I also filled a big pan with water, so things weren’t too bad. This year, Texas was overcome by a huge winter front… Read More »

Garner State Park

One of our favorite activities is to hike. With this in mind, we want to start visiting a different local park each week or so. 2 weeks ago, we met some family at Guadalupe River State Park where we got a little ambitious following a path that paralleled the river. It was somewhat challenging with damp earth, leaves, and loose rocks. We made a decision then to only follow marked… Read More »

What’s New with Me

OK, after a couple of years of no posts, I am determined to start blogging again. To catch you up, I moved to a SKP Co-Op park in Hondo Texas in November 2019. I still had my fifth wheel and I became a co-op member on Lot #1. I filled the shed with all my crafts – and I mean FILLED. I don’t know how I was able to keep… Read More »

Hawaii Vacation, Part 3

The final installment on the trip of a lifetime.  To recap, 20 years ago, my sister, Mary, introduced me to Stampin’ Up! and I have earned the incentive trip almost every year.  On this, my 20th anniversary as a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator, I invited Mary as my guest to a wonderful week on Oahu. When her kids asked her what she wanted for her birthday this year, Mary said that… Read More »

Hawaiian Vacation, Part 2

A few days ago, I shared the first 2 days of my amazing Hawaiian vacation, thanks to Stampin’ Up!  Today, lets climb Diamond Head!  Diamond Head is an extinct volcano and climbing it is not an easy 3/4 mile hike.  We went up unpaved, rough paths, 74 steps, then a tunnel, 99 more steps, and more steps at the top.  The view was worth every step! Hanging with some of… Read More »

Hawaiian Vacation, Part 1

As a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator, I have been blessed to earn a free trip almost every year and this month, I was able to take my sister on a 5 day trip to Oahu, Hawaii!  Since Mary introduced me to Stampin’ Up! 20 years ago, I thought it fitting to invite her to join me. This was one of those vacations that you need a week of rest to recuperate… Read More »

Corner Garden

The Retiring List has been released and it is a really big list!  One of my customers has ordered the Corner Garden stamp and I decided to use mine to make her a thank you card.  It uses the Corner Garden stamp, Yippee – Skippee stamp set, and Coastal Cabana ink and paper.  It is a simple yet effective technique: emboss the image with VersaMark ink and clear embossing powder,… Read More »

Paper Pumpkin this Month

This month’s Paper Pumpkin kit arrived yesterday and it is SO cool!  Here’s what comes in the box: And here is how it is made: The project is an accordion card with die-cut, self-adhesive felt letters.  The folded up card fits perfectly in a kraft box.  The only thing needed that doesn’t come in the box is a pair of scissors.  And did I tell you that the kit has… Read More »

Hot Air Balloon Ride – Check!

I decided one day a few years ago that I wanted to ride in a hot air balloon.  So I created a Bucket List and wrote it down.  On my 60th birthday, my sweet daughter gave me tickets for a ride for 2 – she said it wouldn’t be fun alone (she is right!).  It actually took me 2 years to get the ride scheduled and yesterday was it!  What… Read More »
