One of our favorite activities is to hike. With this in mind, we want to start visiting a different local park each week or so. 2 weeks ago, we met some family at Guadalupe River State Park where we got a little ambitious following a path that paralleled the river. It was somewhat challenging with damp earth, leaves, and loose rocks. We made a decision then to only follow marked paths! I didn’t get any photos of Guadalupe River, so we will return another time.
Yesterday, we visited Garner State Park, less than one hour away. We stuck to marked paths, but still picked some trails marked “challenging” and “very steep”. Oh well, we’ll learn! We were at the park for several hours, hiking less than half of the red trails below. Lots more area to explore! We are actually planning to visit Garner soon for several days with the fifth wheel. A favorite moment was when we encountered a young woman that said the trails were hard for her, even though she was young, and that she thought that we were doing great, considering how old we were!
